All Seasons - Chania – a dream destination for all seasons!
Crete offers Caribbean-style sandy beaches, dramatic canyons, high mountain peaks, historic towns, and romantic villages.
The island’s cuisine is world-famous – its variety and intensity of flavours are truly unmatched.
With over 300 days of sunshine each year, Crete is an endlessly inspiring place to be.
Spring
From as early as March, carpets of wildflowers cover the island and the scent of thyme drifts through the air. In the distance, snow-capped peaks still gleam in the sun.
Spring is a quieter season on Crete – the island feels almost empty, the weather is mild and bright, and the trails are perfect for hiking. And for the brave: the first refreshing swims in the sea are already possible.
Summer
From May onwards, summer arrives on Crete. Warm, dry days with around 30 degrees invite you to enjoy the wonderfully refreshing sea.
Restaurants and bars move their tables outside, and the historic alleyways of Chania are filled with the aromas of every imaginable delicacy. By night, the air feels as soft as silk.
Autumn
In autumn, the Mediterranean still feels warm enough for swimming, and the beaches are almost empty. The heat of summer slowly fades, making this the perfect season for hiking and exploring the island’s landscapes and culture in gentle light and pleasant temperatures.
During the day, it is still a delight to sit outside in Chania’s cafés and restaurants, soaking up the relaxed atmosphere.
Crete in winter - an insider tip
From November to February, Crete shows itself at its most authentic and unspoilt. Temperatures remain what many in northern Europe would call “spring-like,” with plenty of mild, bright days.
This is the quiet season – a time for reflection, encounters with locals, and deep relaxation in a slower rhythm of life.
