All Seasons - Chania is a dream destination at all times of the year!
Crete offers Caribbean sandy beaches, adventurous canyons, high peaks, historic towns and romantic villages.
Crete's cuisine is world-famous. The variety and intensity of flavours is incomparable.
With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, our island is always an inspiring place.
Spring
From as early as March, carpets of wild flowers bloom all over the island and the scent of thyme fills the air. Snow-capped peaks shine in the distance.
In spring, the island is still empty and the weather is mild, bright and friendly. A wonderful time for hiking. Hardened swimmers can even take a dip in the sea.
Summer
It's summer on Crete from May onwards. It gets pleasantly warm and dry. Now the island spoils you with temperatures of around 30 degrees and the wonderfully refreshing sea. Restaurants and bars set up their tables outside and the historic alleyways of Chania smell of all kinds of delicacies. At night, the air is like silk.
Autumn
In autumn you can still swim in the relatively warm Mediterranean on the now almost empty beaches. The summer heat gradually dissipates. Now is the time for hiking and discovering the landscape and culture in very pleasant temperatures and soft light. During the day, it is still lovely to sit outside in the street cafés and restaurants.
Crete in winter - an insider tip
The island is at its most unspoilt from November to February. The temperatures are still what we in northern Europe would call "spring-like". Peace and quiet allow you to experience the island at its most unspoilt. Time for contemplation, encounters with locals and deep relaxation.
